Comics on the inside, buncha porn on the disc, and death metal with CARCASS
styled song titles. These guys are obviously not getting laid much.
So yeah...do I need to even continue to review this CD? I'm sure the comic
book guy would like them and yet still say "WORST GRIND BAND EVER!" It's not
too bad but you can hear the triggers and it's just so utterly generic.
There is nothing to differentiate this from a thousand other CDs. No one
is going to go "Oh! Is this the new BALATONIZER?" because this genre is
pretty stale at this point due to too many bands doing the exact same thing.
It reminds me of "Choosing Death" where someone from DEICIDE talks about how
he realized the energy was gone because there were too many other bands doing
the same thing. And it's so true. It's totally desensitizing to hear these
bands do the same thing again and again. The impact is gone. Seriously. No
one is going to be blown away by what sounds like a hundred other bands.
They are very proficient, and if I narrowed it down to the 3 or 4 bands they
are copying you would rather just listen to those bands. I mean really.
What is the point? Just listen to SUFFOCATION, CANDIRIA, SKINLESS,
or any of the hundred other bands this sounds like. Its got some good
moments, but I can tell where they came from. And the samples don't help this one.
In order to do this genre and do it right you really need to have something
that separates you from the pack. There is no hook to this that makes me
want to listen to it again after hearing it a few times.
Bottom line, this is like drinking Tab over Coke. It has some good points. It gets the job done. But why not just drink a Coke?
