“Occlused In Ottusity” contains 32 songs with a total duration of 25
minutes. Furthermore, Balatonizer’s longest track here is only 1 minute
and 29 seconds… I guess you have already understood that the band is
into grindcore with really brutal vocals.
Even if am not that much into this style I like their music but I
cannot enjoy it. Most tracks are near 40 seconds and it is tiring to go
to another song right at the time you start to like the previous one.
Balatonizer are a technical band too and this obvious even if songs are
a little bit weird. I know there are many bands into this style that
compose songs this way but I don’t like it and I don’t think there is a
point in that. The production is very good and even if they use drum
machine the sound in not annoying at all for your ears. They have also
shot a video for their "Muscular Prevarication” song which is good.
They just need to pay more attention to their artwork which seems funny
to my eyes. The booklet contains a cartoon with some pigs, the devil
and the members of the band…
Anyway, if you like bands like Napalm Death, Cannibal Corpse and
Agathocles then give a try to Balatonizer.
