Balatonizer is you (Mario Musumeci) on Vocals, Marco Failla on guitars & drum programming & Rodan Di Maria on Bass. Is this also the original & only line-up till now? Do you have guys have plans to recruit a real drummer? Yes. This is the definitive line-up. Here is impossible find a drummer like Laureano! 3. Tell us the history of Balatonizer, How did you guys meet, when did you started grinding, how did you guys talk it over? We born in 1997. At the beginning we was two vox, bass, guitar and a drummer. After that in 1999 we became a brutal trio with drum machine. This new dimension satisfied our concept of "Vulgar death grind". 4. Is "Occlused In Ottusity" your first full length release? How about demos, how many have you released before doing the full length? Yes the first one. Before we made one demo "Balatonizer" in 1999 and an Ep "Reborn in Ignorance" in 2002. 5. How did you become in contact with "This Dark Reign Recordings" from California? Have you've been to the USA? Is there some sort of a contract or just a deal for this release? We had sent many demos and John from This Dark Reign trust in our work. Only Marco was in Usa for his professional comics drawner manifestation. A deal for this relase. 6. Band's, zines & Labels has given bands some sort of style branding known in their country, you know, like the Japanese bands uses being Yakuza Metal & their gangster movies' are more known now as Yakuza movies. Since you use a lot of Violent Italian Film Samplings which are probably from Mafia films, and the titles seems a mix of sex & violence, so, can we call Balatonizer's music as Mafia Grind!?! Oh! I like it! It's cool!!! 7. Who chooses the samplings & where to put it? What is the best Mafia Movie that you would recommend, but they would probably hard to find outside Italy eh? We choosed the samples from mafia movie '80 and italian commedy movies '70. The best films for us are "Mary per sempre" Regia: Marco Risi and "Ragazzi fuori". You may find the first one also out of Italy. 8. I think I have not mentioned this on the review of your CD in the past issue of the zine. There is a comic strip inside the CD sleeve about you guys getting power from some beast creature then after that you created havoc & terro in the city. He he he. Who made the comic strip? How about the story, who's idea is it? The idea was mine.Marco drawned the comics. He is a professional drawner. Yes! 3 idiots with many muscles that are realizing a necessary cleaning. 9. Oh, and on the last strip where you guys are smashing & ripping people's heads off, there's this one guy with a chainsaw, who's shirt is labeled "Ciccio Taglia Via" (I don't know what it means man!?!), he was not in the cave with you guys but he joined the city bashing, who is he to Balatonizer? Ciccio Tagliavia is the name and surname of our big friend and inspiration here in Palermo. We write in the t-shirt "Ciccio Taglia Via "because in italian languagge means "Ciccio cut away". 10. How about the pigs man, what's the pig all about? Does it symbolizes anything, like human filthyness?? We love this animal is so dull and stupid like us! 11. Who are these two other person's mentioned in the sleeve, where songs are dedicated to them, like Alfredo "Carmelo" Li Bassi, it says 'from the movie Mary Forever', a friend of yours? And Valentino Rossi? Alfredo Li Bassi is a big actor here in Palermo. We didn't know him personally but will be honour meet him for us! How you don't know Valentino Rossi the best motorcycle racer in the world?! 12. Where did you shoot the video of "Muscular Prevarication"? Did you hire some people to make this video? How do you find doing videos, is it hard, fun, what? In our box. We have done everything alone with thw help of ours two friends Michele and Giulio (Thy Majesty singer). Was so fun make it! 13. Will you be doing more videos for future releases? Sure! In the next year! 14. Some Cable TV companies have some local programs where they feature some u/g gigs & videos. Do you have this king of support in your area? No. Here our genre is relegated to an underground dimension and there aren't program for us. 15. Do you think it is good for the underground to have some support from a more mainstream & commercialized media? May be! But know with the web is more simple to improve your promotions with the right underground channels. 16. In the first emergence of Grind, it is more associated with punk & politics. Do you have any political or social view that you are somehow incorporating in Balatonizer's music? Is there any 'hidden' message in the songs? Nothing! Only irony and brutality! 17. Since there are no lyrics available, would you give us a short description of this chosen tracks; Corporal Usurpation, is it about a military experience? No. 18. Microscopic Brain, is this about people who just can't fucking understand? No it's about our brains! 19. Sucaman, about suckers?? Sucaman is our mascotte and we need always is approval! 20. Anal by Anal,is this just the sexual act or it could mean something else? Means what yoy want. 21. Having a drum machine, have you played lived? If yes, how was it? if not, do you have plans to create havoc on stage? Sure brother! We played with drum machine on live and it's cool! 22. I think there is a good mix of metal genre in Italy, I've heard HM, Thrash, BM, Grind & also punk & HC. How about you guys, how varied are your metal ears? Which genre you would rather not hear & why? We ear everything about heavy metal. Marco is more oriented for the brutal sound way and industrial, Rodan for every kind of music genres, I love brutal, trash, death, Power, Hard rock, all everything about HM! 23. It is said that printed zines are in a decline, near the 'endangered' species category. Do you read printed zines or you prefer the ones on the net? Would you mention zines (either printed or web) you usually check out? Rodan reads many zines. He is more informated about it. 25. Is there a plan of next release already? What are you guys doing besides the band, like your line of work or other things keeping you busy? How much time do you give to the band & the music? Is it always easy having a band & surviving life? Is easy if you love it like us. We work and when we have time we play with Balatonizer that is our comunance, realization and a big part of our life!
